Duplex and split-level villas have always presented a challenge for home lift installations. Upper and lower split-level units often feature narrow stairwell voids with no pre-planned lift shaft; many homes are already finished with underfloor heating, tiling, and waterproofing that cannot be extensively disturbed; and the overall floor area is compact, leaving no room for a dedicated lift shaft.

Many homeowners are drawn to panoramic lifts, but after visiting multiple brands, they are told: the space is too small – only a basic enclosed lift is possible.

ZADIM, with its Swedish heritage, has specifically optimised its structural design for compact duplexes and split-level homes. The screw-drive series requires a minimum footprint of just 860×860 mm – less than 1 m² – making it possible to install an integrated panoramic lift in even the tightest spaces, without compromising Nordic aesthetics or everyday practicality.

1. Four Core Challenges of Installing a Lift in a Duplex or Split-Level Home

(1) Extremely Limited Available Space
Most duplex stairwell voids are only 0.9–1.2 m wide – too small for traditional traction lifts, and many brands cannot offer a panoramic solution.

(2) Finished Homes – No Deep Pit Excavation Possible
In occupied split-level villas, floors often have underfloor heating and waterproofing. Breaking the slab risks leaks and extensive re-decoration.

(3) Avoiding Intrusion into Functional Areas
No one wants to sacrifice entrance halls, storage, or corridors. The only viable location is the unused space within the stairwell void.

(4) Seeking Premium Quality – Not a Compromised Product
Modern light-luxury and Italian minimalist interiors demand
a home lift that matches the overall aesthetic – not a clunky, exposed-wiring assembly.

2. ZADIM‘s Core Advantages for Compact Homes

1. Ultimate Space Efficiency – Footprint Under 1 m²
The screw-drive panoramic series can be installed in just 860×860 mm – less floor space than a standard wardrobe. The cabin structure is optimised within the same external dimensions to accommodate normal adult passage, daily two-person use, and elderly mobility – solving the industry challenge of installing
a panoramic lift in narrow duplex voids.

2. 50 mm Ultra-Shallow Pit – Non-Destructive Retrofit for Finished Duplexes
The Z6000 / Z7000 screw models require only a 50 mm pit – virtually no excavation. Only minimal floor-level finishing is needed; no tile removal, no damage to underfloor heating or waterproofing – significantly reducing alteration costs and shortening installation time.
Comparison: Steel-belt models require a minimum 130 mm pit – better suited to homes undergoing full renovation where localised floor work is feasible.

3. Factory-Integrated Aluminium Panoramic Shaft
Unlike “lift machine + on-site welded steel structure” combinations, ZADIM‘s shaft is factory-prefabricated and fluorocarbon-coated. Guide rails and cables are fully concealed, presenting a clean external finish. Choose single-side or three-sided ultra-clear laminated glass – even compact spaces benefit from transparent visuals that reduce the visual weight of the equipment.

4. Aesthetic System – Matching Duplex Interior Styles
Four matte frame colour options: Midnight Black, Polar White, Grey Gold Sand, and Champagne Gold. Standard star-lit ceiling + concealed adjustable-colour-temperature ambient LED strips. Cabin walls available in leather upholstery or matte metal panels – perfectly complementing modern light-luxury, cream-toned, and minimalist interiors.

5. Dual Product Lines – Flexible Selection Based on Needs

  • Z6000 / Z7000 Screw Panoramic – First Choice for Finished Duplex Retrofits
860×860 mm minimal footprint, 50 mm ultra-shallow pit – no major structural work. Z6000 series available as Swedish whole-unit import. Suitable for 2-4 storey split-level homes with moderate daily use.

  • Z8000 / Z9000 Steel-Belt Panoramic – For New Builds or Full Renovations
Quieter, smoother, and faster. Minimum footprint 960×910 mm. Ideal for multi-generational high-frequency use, with more generous cabin space.

3. Model Selection Guide

A. Preferred for Duplex / Split-Level: Z5000 / Z5100 Lifestyle Series

Designed specifically for 2-3 storey split-level homes, this series combines modern minimalist Nordic styling with excellent integration into any interior.

  • Ultra-compact: Z5000 from 860×810 mm; Z5100 from 860×860 mm.

  • Easy installation: Z5000 pit only 50 mm; Z5100 pit only 70 mm.

  • Distinctive design: Standard star-lit ceiling and transparent acrylic shaft walls; customisable colours and flooring.

B. Additional Options – Covering Diverse Needs

  • Z8000 / Z8100 Classic Series – Value and Balanced Performance
Minimum footprint 860×860 mm; pit 130 mm. Z8100 features a “hidden cabin” design for enhanced transparency.

  • Z9000 / Z9100 Luxury Series – Premium Leather Interior
Minimum footprint 960×910 mm; pit 130 mm.

  • Z6000 Screw Series – Whole-Unit Swedish Import – Ultimate Safety
Pure mechanical nut-and-screw engagement provides physical fall protection. Zero pit – can be installed directly on the floor, with minimal impact on the building structure.

4. Five Essential Pitfall-Avoidance Tips for Compact Duplex Lifts

(1) Do not chase the absolute smallest footprint. 860×860 mm is the minimum. If space allows, reserve at least 1000×1000 mm for better ride comfort.

(2) Reject on-site welded steel shafts. Exposed wiring is even more noticeable in tight spaces. Always choose a factory-prefabricated aluminium integrated shaft.

(3) For finished duplexes, prioritise screw models. If structural work is limited, do not force a steel-belt solution that requires slab demolition.

(4) Ensure safety features are standard and stated in the contract. Confirm ARD automatic levelling during power outages, infrared light curtain anti-trapping, emergency communication, and overload protection. Screw models offer inherent mechanical self-locking for additional peace of mind.

(5) Check ceiling heights in advance. Screw series require a minimum top floor height of 2,400 mm. During surveying, confirm stair beam and floor slab heights to avoid spatial interference.
